I don't know how many others have this, or even seen it, but I still have the Kane figure with the removable mask, showing his burned face underneath it. As soon as I saw it in stores, I bought that figure without ANY hesitation. It was kinda "oversized", body wise... and only partially articulated as far as arm/leg movements go.... but I bought it for that "removable mask". Of course, it doesn't look a thing like Glen Jacobs.... it more resembles The Undertaker with some scarring. But still..... That figure will be in my collection until the day I die. I just did a Google search... it's from the "Maximum Sweat" line, if you want to see what it looks like. It's from 1998.

I know conrads a goof, but i agree with him on lex luger on wbf. I assume if someone is on tv each week i assume they are getting paid. Is it odd to think/assume that? I think lex said in his book that he did get paid for the lex express thing. To my knowledge no wrestler has ever worked for free,so why would lex?

The first mask and costume was the best look for the character, each successive redesign only diminished his visual impact and the aesthetic of the character itself.

The "reverse" Kane look from '99 was ace. They also tweaked the mold of the mask from the original to have a more furrowed brow to make it look more angry and aggressive. It was a subtle change, but it made the mask more menacing.

Bruce can't even argue here. He just says "Yea... congratulation." This push was abandoned so quick. He's a great tag team guy, who should have had a more logical push, because he just wasn't ready to be in there with The Rock.

Hulkamania was starting to show its age here in 90.It was a smart move to try and get a new top draw over, but Warrior just apparently wasn't that guy Maybe going back to Savage might have fared better? It was a difficult spot, so many eggs had been in the Hogan basket for so long, no one was at that level in WWF.

I think it was a big mistake to turn Demolition heel in 1990. It was done because Vince McMahon decided to bring in L.O.D. as a babyface tag team, but nonetheless, making Demolition heels was a big mistake.

I dont think theres been a character in WWE history that had their appearance watered down as much as Kane. He had such a great presentation when he debuted with the full-body suit and then slowly overtime he began to show more and more skin until they took the mask off him and put cartoony flames on his tights.

    • @jasonmartinson7758

Im not sure how well the original character would have gone Just like Taker said The original character was getting stale due to the sign of times Sure, it was a little cartoony, but the first version would not last too long

The Character had to evolve. Outside of the outfit, and the additional selling in the ring after a while, Kane largely remained the same for 5 years. In 2002, he opened up the bottom half of his mask to be able to speak easier. I'm a firm believer that unmasking gave him a whole new lease on life and extended his career even further.

@@jasonmartinson7758it had a lot more life than they gave it. Taker didn’t change his gimmick but every five years. They changed Kane almost every years, so that’s complete bullshit.

@@Sastonleeit didn’t, it killed him as proven by him becoming a jobber in 2007, even after the unmasking he barely had any momentum before putting over H Batista and Edge. Unmasking him killed him, it had to happen eventually but they could have done ten years with the mask and ten years without and a final run with the masks return before he retires. No one can ever argue he was booked well once his mask came off.

Excluding all of the WCW guys… It would have been great to bring in Jake the Snake or someone like that… With WCW guys, Piper, Macho Man, Sullivan, even Hulk But, I’d think it should have been someone with a longer history in the business than the Undertaker… Vince fit that part, but I think it needed to be someone even Vince (and the Undertaker) would fear… basically, who could be more evil than Vince and the Undertaker.
